Garth Jones
1. Where are you from and how did you first get introduced to EDM?
Garth – Price, Utah originally and by birth but my more prominent stomping grounds are Arizona, Colorado, and Virginia. I was first introduced to EDM in the early 2010s when I was living in Wyoming and making frequent trips to Colorado to go to “raves.” I genuinely didn’t know or bare to think that those get-away trips would evolve into the love for dance music that I have today and have painstakingly built over the last decade.

2. What are the most profound ways that your upbringing has affected who you are and your hunger to succeed?
Garth – One word – poverty. Seeing and growing in the bottom of the barrel (so to speak) since birth had an insatiable effect on me as I grew into my older teen years, young adulthood, and now as a 31-year old small business owner. It’s not the money, the recognition, or “clout” that I seek – it’s equity in a platform and website that I have built. It’s pride and a profound sense of self-validation that I can do anything I put my mind to.

3 Your company’s brand showcases clouds and thunderbolts! What was the inspiration behind Monsoon Season?
Garth – In the unrelenting and arid regions of Arizona, there is an end-of-summer storm that rolls through and that system is called Monsoon Season. This ungodly storm system is capable of immense flash floods, vanta black cloud colors, and lightning so thunderously loud and bright, that the darkness of the night can be lit up like day. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind spectacle and experience.
This phenomena inspired the vision, creative imagery, and name behind the EDM blog focused on rising talent, Monsoon Season.——–
4. What are your future goals and aspirations for Monsoon Season?
Garth – To be a fully functioning media platform for rising musicians, creators, writers, and more to utilize this space and platform to build a future they see fit for themselves. Whether it’s our label sector, writing department, or simply a booming brand that fans and artists can get excited about – that’s the goal, that is the dream.

5. What advice would you give to independent artists who are building out there?
Garth – Keep going, nothing in life that is fruitful or rewarding ever came quickly or easily. If you are original, work hard, and maintain consistency, then there will be a day where you see results or rewards. Be kind, be smart, and be professional – the rest will fall into place in the order and time they are meant to be.
In our fourth year of Monsoon Season, we can empirically say that consistency (and content) is what contributed to our notoriety and relevance in today’s EDM markets.———
6. Anything else you would like to shoutout and plug in?
Garth – Always! Firstly, my mom is a huge reason I keep going. She showed me the world of blogging and what sort of benefit and creative outlet it can be for music-loving folks like myself.
Secondly, our writers Tate and Brandon, they both have never veered course and always continue to show up and share the same passions I do, and love this company and brand as much as I do. Next, our graphic artist Alec; this madman never cease to amaze me with that gorgeous and thought-provoking artwork he generates for our label sector and special projects.Keep your eyes peeled for Hypercane, our sophomore compilation album featuring 10 electronic artists from around the world which drops in June of 2024. We have lots of electrically-charged content coming your way all spring, summer, fall, and winter. Get stoked to get soaked with us here at Monsoon Season!
